       @internetarchive Read the room. The content laundering done by generative AI and supported by this ruling is catastrophic for the creative community. Muddying the waters of the commons with nonsense, it threatens the availability of factual information to future generations. You could present the potential benefits of the ruling as a “silver lining” rather than as a wholly positive outcome.

       @internetarchive I would be ok with this decision, if any models trained with fair use materials should be public domain and open source. It is what it is. But I tire of all the AI hysterics, especially from people with little understand of what LLMs are, how training works, and what it's useful for. I'm especially suspicious of anyone sqwaking about copyright, they just want more control, and more capitalism.

       @internetarchive Hehe, I've never been fan of the current copyright system, so seeing it dismantled fills my heart with joy. Sure, copyright protected smaller creators too, but it currently mostly serves big corps.
