@Sine_Nomine @alderik @signalapp You missed the point. Google is imposing Gemini on users without consent. Using Signal (I do) is essentially irrelevant.

@mwt @Sine_Nomine @alderik @signalapp Using Signal isn't running away (getting away from Gemini). Switching to Graphene OS (requires a Pixel phone) https://grapheneos.org/ is arguably the best option at the moment but it involves some sacrifices, principally (imo) loss of NFC payments via GPay.We need regulatory constraints not technical fixes, but these won't happen without popular demand.

@samueljohnsonIt also by default sacrifices the lion's share of notifications, somehow. (I think it's because these now heavily depend on Google Play Services.) As a chronic notification disabler, it has only been a blessing for me, but some people may take issue.@mwt @Sine_Nomine @alderik @signalapp
