@hannu_ikonen if you take that to its logical conclusion, "fucking" literally means a pleasurable intimate act, but has had a gendered/misogynist/homophobic meaning (are you fucking them, or getting fucked by them? etc). so we should also remove that word?I think when you make words taboo their power grows, and they become worse. People keep using them, especially to be hurtful. If they become everyday, then they are usually rendered harmless over time. My prude, out of touch father once instructed me not to say "stuff it" because, he gravely declared, "stuff" just means "fuck". Language changes as attitudes do.

@hannu_ikonen I do wish the kitty cat term for, “utterly-depraved coward,” weren’t so deeply misogynistic, but I think most of the power of the word against a MAGAt or their “leader” IS that it feminizes them. They hate that.

@su_liam Heh. You seem to have a problem saying cunt, instead using a term for pussy that isn't usually associated with genitals, but you have no problems with cunt being insulting because it's gendered. As a cunt haver I find it obnoxious and somewhat hurtful that a comparison to me can so easily be seen to denigrate an utterly despicable person.@hannu_ikonen

@RedRobyn @su_liam @hannu_ikonen Finally, someone who shares my long-held belief that women's body parts should not be used as "masculine" insults. Women's cunts/pussies bring life into the earth and pleasure upon their owners. I usually leave it up to the owners to set boundaries as to what to call their body parts; but as a supporter of feminism and a sex+ radical, I will never use such terms as derogatory insults.

@AnthonyJK Thanks. I do know many women, including some I otherwise respect , use the term in both the insult and the positive sense*, and refer to Tim Minchin's ginger song* I also get a huge giggle when UK transphobes insist they are GC , not TERF. Here that means Good Cunt, which whilst not true is also probably not what they would be happy being called, cunt not generally bring a positive term there@su_liam @hannu_ikonen

@RedRobyn @su_liam @hannu_ikonen Also, using sexual terms as derogatory insults merely to own conservatives only plays to their terms, since they don't see the hypocrisy in using them.
