I tell hubby everyday he is not going anywhere. not allowed to die either. Divorce is crap.

That is actually brilliant. This is what I am going to do if I am ever in court because it would probably work for anything.

When my little brother was arrested on a bullshit felony charge for defending himself when two guys tried to kill him, my parents called up my cousin, who worked in the jail my brother was in, and asked him if he knew which lawyer got every one off? He did. My parents hired him, and by the time things were done, all charges had been dropped against my brother. It wasn't cheap, but he didn't go to prison.

Family court judges are appointed -- not elected -- in more than a third of the states. For those states you have to go by reputation and some other attributes. Young lawyers may work cheap but they don't know the judges -- an absolutely critical factor in family court. I got my lawyer through the local DA I know, and she said, "If I was divorcing, I'd hire X." It was good enough for me, and all I did was win in court.

@Meatyfren88 @s2208 Actually you keep the top ~5 divorce lawyers on retainer so your wife can't use them due to conflict of interest

@s2208 get a prenup, and even then you'll end up paying for your ex-wife to live in your house with the new BF.
