@stux I'm starting to think that companies & people who avoid paying their fair share should no longer be covered & protected by the infrastructure that they refuse to contribute to. So in my world order stealing Amazon, Tesla, Google & Apple products is not illegal, you can't steal by violence, but if you happen across some goods then you can just take them without committing an offence. Also these companies can only transport their goods using their own infrastructure, no roads for them...

@stux I honestly don't know what a person would ( want to) do with a billion or more. A million, yes...: you can leave work and start doing what you want. Build your own house. Bbq all summer. Knit all winter or organise in your neighborhood. Sleep all day. Whatever. But when you have all that, what do you need more money for? Serious question

@stux unfortunately large portions of the population still thinks they can make that club or at least to double digits millionaire club listening to, following and implementing the wishes of the billionaires (as if they'd want more people to join them) and more than happy to throw people of color/different gender/sexuality, immigrants and disabled etc under the bus - like believing treating these groups equally is the reason stopping them from achieving that goal.

@stux Yes. Billionaires could be taxed out of existence if we tried hard enough,and society would benefit, it was done pre-Reagan-Tatcher to some success, but is reversible.Fundamentally r>g . Rentiers will gain more than workers and money will accumulate at the top: increasing returns and all that.Until and unless we democratize ownership of the means of production as we democratize political power, billionaires will return like the cockroaches they are.

@stux A nice little "what the fuck" moment I had when perusing "Wealth of Nations," a seminal work by Adam Smith, essentially the founder of capitalism, was when I found out that Smith calls landlords basically cruel parasites who contribute nothing to society and collect rent that they do not deserve (It's in chapter 11). To see the founder of capitalism espouse a view that's nowadays commonly associated with far-left movements kinda woke me up.
