@kaixin KDE has also said that with Plasma 7 the X11 support will come to an end: "kwin_x11 is expected to be maintained until Plasma 7, no new features are expected to be backported " https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-devel/2025-March/123654.html

@jwildeboer @kaixin Which sucks because Wayland is certainly not mature enough to replace X11...I tried giving Wayland another shot just last week and had my first driver crash on this system after a context menu in steam would not close. Then afterwards would crash immediately upon login. The only time I have problems with X11 is when I deliberately create them. Sure it might 'suck' more and isn't 'modern' but it also doesn't fail catastrophically on a regular basis.

@psilonaut@idtech.space @jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I think #X11 is all good as long as I stay away from #Nvidia stuff. #wayland on the other way will only be good when I stay with #Gnome or #KDE and willing to spend some time. Last time I tried #wayland was #labwc on #FreeBSD , was hard but many of my little tools wouldn't work without tinkering.
