Sorry I misunderstand. If it is locking screen, could it be that the screen is already locked? Did you try typing you password and ENTER? Or can you switch to tty and check ps for possible processes? As a last resort, you can also try ssh into the host and try pkill X to decide if is related to the X session.

Interesting that you would choose to use #Manjaro instead of vanilla #Arch. I always find myself prefer to go to the upstream distro just to make sure I build the system up form the the ground. For example using #Debian I usually go from #debootstrap to install basic minimal system, which is quite similar to the Arch install process.

Yes makes perfect sense. Installing #Arch, or even #Debian with its installer, is not a very good choice for newcomers. Distros with #Calamares are the best to start with.

Installed #Vivaldi browser just in case. Now I have #LibreWolf and Vivaldi, but I still use #Firefox almost exclusively on desktop platforms.

Reading emails from #Vivaldi is good experiences, especially for mail lists because they are arranged into threads.

I noticed that #XLibre got built in #FreeBSD #ports so I thought why not try it in a VM. Turns out it is just list you would do install xorg, a few stantard #pkg commands and it just runs !#RunBSD #BSD #FOSS #Unix

#AskFedi : How to bulk download all emails in inbox from #Yahoo email? I confess, I do not have a good habit of archiving and backing-up my emails. Now my inbox is booming and reaching ~10k emails since I have subscribed to a few mail lists. I do have #Alpine set up locally on my laptop to read them once in a while. I tried Select All and Save in Alpine however it is too slow and easily fail simply because it took so long that remote server would kill the connection.#FOSS #Unix #Linux

Tried with #Thunderbird too, it simply download every single email as a eml file separately, meaning I will get ~10K files if it succeed!

Thanks for the advice. I have Thunderbird but I set it to IMAP. I can set to POP3 but I think: 1. There is no bulk download mode? All emails will still be separately files? 2. The downloaded copy will be in the Thunderbird dataset and will only be loadable again with Thunderbird? I was thinking about a flat text copy so that I can grep/search when needed.

Thanks very much! I think I got it. Yes I had to delete SMTP account and add back using POP instead. And there is a local copy of all mails in one Inbox text file, that's good. Only little remaining issue is that even I have downloaded all of the inbox locally, the copy in Inbox when I check online is still there, not deleted. But I guess I can just safely delete all since I know I have a local copy now.

@grahamperrin@bsd.cafe what does the packagemean here and what is the distinction please? I thought package is a more general term while ports in FreeBSD means some scripts and utilities to make a package compile for FreeBSD. The package I will understand as a complied binary from pkg, which is produced from ports getting compiled, no? Thanks!

On your website, no matter where you are currently, when clicking upper right menu and switching language to English, you go back to homepage, rendering viewing any other page in English impossible

@grahamperrin@bsd.cafeYes true. While in the specific case of Xlibre, it provides neither base system components nor kmod modules, meaning the only thing is pkg/ports.CC @evgandr@bsd.cafe @m0xEE@nosh0b10.m0xee.net

@wzqtparor@fedibird.com this is LFS dropping official support, meaning that as users of course you can do whatever you want and capable of, but there won't be any guarantee and documentation. So I think it matters a lot.
