America is being run by some of the worst, most corrupt, morally bankrupt, and straight up evil people the world has ever seen... and they were enabled by the woman who works in your office with a "love" sign next to pictures of her smiling grandchildren and the "nice guy" down the street that drives the bus for the local elementary school.I don't really know what to do with that.

@talia_christine As usual, Terry Pratchett summed it up, this time in “Small Gods”:“There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.”I f I recall correctly, this referenced the office of a professional torturer with a “World’s Best Dad” cup on the desk.

@talia_christine Cognitive dissonance sucks. People are complicated, and shades of grey, and can do evil and hurtful things, and also good and helpful things at the same time. It's hard. I want my heros heroic, and my villains villainous.I can accept flawed "good guys." However, it is really hard to process the folks supporting things I deeply disagree with, who otherwise seem to be decent folks. The villains love their kids and dogs too, and nobody is the villain of their own story.
