The latitude of the launch site determines what orbit inclination can be achieved, and that again greatly affects the amount of fuel needed to launch into a suitable trajectory to reach the Moon (not to mention another planet). These are not just small technical details but profound parameters that affect a complete mission profile. But I am not a rocket scientist.
