       I just realized that I couldn't take a particular job because I wouldn't be able to have security clearance, because of who I am and the current government's position on people like me. Which is a realku fucking funny thing to happen to someone named "Turing"

       @foone I had to do the same. It was the worst feeling to have to turn down the greatest opportunity of my life because of personal safety and not being able to say I would be able to keep doing what was required. I still regret it, even if it does mean being safer as is.

       @foone Even before the current administration, I'd argue state and local government jobs are better than most federal jobs. They usually feature fewer and less onerously interpreted regulations, plus a much lower chance of "shut downs" pausing your paycheck.I'm sorry you have to deal with this, though. Government jobs should be available to the public, no exceptions.
