Well ... that was interesting ...Did that Ballot Build thingy and wow! Talk about how old habits and how utterly ineffectual our Public Broadcaster and the Main Stream Media is on keeping us informed of other candidates ... I found parties and people I've never heard of!Or noticed on previous ballot papers.I suggest everybody have a look, even if just to confirm what we think we know about ourselves, because if the Greens really are Left Wing, it seems I'm far more Lefty than I thought :) And sadly that Labor is far more Right Wing than I thought too ...My results locally give me little choice but still hate the thought of putting Liberals third so may have to rethink that :)Seems I'm 92% Greens and 44% ALP (Reversed in 2022), Liberal 19%, then they allotted me PHONy 18%, Libertarian 14%, Independent and Family First 0% as no info on them.Senate ...and here's the surprise ...Greens 92%, Victorian Socialists 89%, Indigenous 86%, Legalise Cannabis 85% (I am against that), Sustainable somebody or other 79% Aust. Democrats 74%, FUSION 68% (never heard of) ... ALP down at 44% ... Liberals at 19% I have to do a lot of searching for info and their preferences before I fill out that postal vote.

@HardBeingGreen Saw a close relative by marriage so hooked on it even had a bong between his legs as he drove because it 'made his senses sharper' Couldn't hold down a job because of his erratic behaviour and took to violence on family when he couldn't get it ... Last straw was when he cut up their clothes and molested daughter ...I know not everybody does that or even gets so badly addicted ... but many suffer mental problems from overuse ... especially teens ... and even one in a family is too much.I have no objection to medicinal purposes but from my view, anything that interferes with the brain or is sucked down deep into the lungs is bad for you ... mentally and physically. And too many doctors with lung cancer patients only ask if they smoke tobacco ...

You think the cannabis was causing that? He would have held a job, been nonviolent, and not molesting daughter, if not for the weed? I'd agree it's bad for your lungs to smoke anything.CC: @HardBeingGreen@theblower.au

@cy @HardBeingGreen Yes I do ... whether as causal or a trigger is still being debated but there is evidence ..."A number of studies, both cross-sectional and prospective, find a prevalence of schizophrenia several times higher among cannabis users than in non-users. This association becomes stronger the lower the age of cannabis use onset, the higher the amount consumed and the higher the THC concentration are."https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9568200/"The Cannabis sativa plant contains many cannabinoids, including the principal psychoactive component, Δ9-terahydrocannabinol (THC), as well as cannabidiol (CBD). OK yeah, and there's also this article: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7442038/Even though CBD shows therapeutic effects and THC opposing effects, the data is minimal and low safety and efficacy warrants more research. The relation between cannabis and schizophrenia needs further investigation. We need more case-control studies and clinical trials with a larger population to get conclusive data.So they don't know. But that doesn't mean there is no connection. Sucks that your relative got so messed up, either way.I guess I'm chuffed at calling it addiction, because I've known people addicted to opium, meth, alcohol or tobacco, and they went through terrible pain and distress trying to get off the stuff. They weren't just assholes who insisted on using it; they were desperate to use it, to avoid withdrawal and just craving it like trying to resist the urge to scratch an itch. Mister molester is just fine in prison without any pot, I assume? Never heard of any withdrawal or cravings associated with cannabis, outside of (heh) appetite stimulation.CC: @HardBeingGreen@theblower.au
