How hard is it to repaint a bicycle really? I'm planning on buying an air compressor+paint gun and use automotive paint btw#Cycling #Bicycles

@sunbeam_rider in Germany you can get your steel/aluminum frame sanded and repainted for ~200€ (single color, decals and multi color will cost extra). Result will like out of factory.

@RolandRides wow, costs almost like a new bicycle where I live, but it's possible that I have the same option here at locally adjusted prices. Still, buying the compressor and DIYing it might be still marginally more expensive. It is cheaper than 200€ though, and I plan to use the compressor for other things

@sunbeam_rider paint is the easy part, but what about the primer, clear coat, and other finishing steps? Those are much more important to keep the paint from fading due to UV exposure and producing a hard exterior shell that resists physical damage. Also, be careful to not accidentally paint your neighbors' cars, something the pros solve with a paint booth. And don't breathe the fumes.

@trouble Oh I've considered the clear coat too and I will also buy a mask. As for the paint booth, well I'll do it in my courtyard, some weeks ago I bought all the things to set up a clothesline to hang the frame and fork
