In Cyberpunk 2077, you can 'hack' basically any monitor or TV by looking at it and using the 'distract enemies' hack where it glitches out for a bitand I just really, really, really wish I could do that in real life because I would shut every single ad I ever have to see down immediately.

@aud I'm imagining a superhero with the odd power that she blots out advertising. TVs go to static, website glitch out and the parts with ads don't load. Billboards slowly smolder and char.

@futurebird @aud This is as good a time as any to mention that Safari (on both Mac and iPhone/iPad) has a "Hide Distracting Items" function that lets you satisfyingly obliterate anything on a web page. Little known but beloved.

@futurebird @aud I once had an old television with a big crack in the glass over the screen. It worked perfectly during the shows but for some reason, when it went to commercials, the sound would buzz and the vertical and horizontal hold would lose its mind. When the show came back on, everything was fine. I miss that old set.
