@q66 @adrianyyy (friendly reminder IRC has literally no moderation tools compared to Matrix)

@elly But Matrix has VC money and blockchain and all the hype ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€Honestly, it's disappointing that so much of the open source community is chasing behind the hype around Matrix.

@q66 @vitali64sur @famfo @adrianyyy Except most IRC opers also have tools to detect spammy messages/users, usually a bunch of regexes. While as far as I know Matrix does not have this. But yeah would be pretty cool to have some IRCv3 extension to either filter-ahead or delete messages (probably could steal it from Twitch, lol).

@q66 for one thing, tooling like that needs to be able to intercept messages before they reach everybody, so it needs special interfaces into the servers (i.e. it can't be implemented as a normal bot against the client APIs), and e.g. in the case of Matrix that doesn't fit in the architecture well because there is not even "the server"?
