When cats yawn and they get those slanted white demon eyes. (I only think we don't notice how strange cats are because we're used to them.)

@futurebird We don’t notice how strange they are because they are really good at mind control.

@vikxin I'd go for those cuttle fish eyes.

@futurebird @vikxin I have wanted a tapetum lucidum ever since I learned about them.

@futurebird @vikxin We found our now one-eyed cat in a terrible state having been in a scrap with another animal (we suspect another cat, but there's no way to be sure). The nictitating membrane of her damaged eye had completely enclosed, shielding it from further damage or infection.Unfortunately, she lost the eye anyway, but it does seem hella cool to have that ability!

@futurebird @vikxin If we're swapping out our eyes, I want cephalopod eyes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cephalopod_eyeHonestly, one could almost feel like human eyes were just messing around and then cephalopod eyes were what happens when one gets serious about doing them right. You brought up cuttlefish. They may even be able to distinguish polarization...

@futurebird @vikxin Tapetum Lucidum would be fantastic but I’d settle for my rods and cones facing the right way.

@futurebird @vikxin aesthetically i really want the w iris, but had to go with tapetum lucidum for its utility. it's a good fit for astronomy and my habit of never turning on the lights

@futurebird @vikxin the tapetum lucidum hurts visual acuity IIRC (since the direct and reflected light can't both be in focus), so I'm gonna have to go for the nictitating membrane.

@futurebird @vikxin I didn't know what a tapetum lucidum is before five minutes ago, but I think that would be the best because it would let me see the ghosts at night, like cats do.

@futurebird @vikxin Given my line of work definitely tapetum lucidum.I did have to a do a web search first to find out what it was, though.

@futurebird @vikxin Lucidum because of how cool it looks when reflecting light. Probably not a good idea, however, given this new era's increased likelihood that I'll end my life in armed combat. Being shiny in the dark probably isn't adaptive in a gunfight.

@futurebird @vikxin I mean, the question is "What can they see that I can't?"I hope it is something good, like the direction of polarized light, or deep ultra violet. Like birds eyes having that bone in them, when all the other weight was lost for flight, it better be worth it.
