@APoD Oh, they used some Hubble processing I did a while back. It ended up oddly low resolution, though? All of the images in the 25th anniversary release look scaled down and then scaled back up again. š¤

@futurebird there's just so many favorite fish... i think oarfish are pretty dang cool, and mysterious. and arapaima. and gar. i seem to also favor long fish. but also i could just sit at the aquarium and stare at seahorses.

@futurebird all of the above, somehow. There are a lot of options! There's the $3 regular old plastic jug variety all the way up to nearly $8 grass fed, organic options. But there are also cheaper organic, ultra pasteurized options.

@futurebird I saw one up to no good on my back porch as a kid. Knew it was thinking evil thoughts. As soon as it poked its head in the bird house and pulled a baby sparrow out, I opened the door and spooked it. Figured the little one was a goner, but I found it had somehow landed undamaged in the grass, brought it back to the house, and it hopped right back in its hole. Always be suspicious of blue jays...

Found something cool in the Sombrero Galaxy (M104) while trying to peek at the dusty features in its bright core. I think it's got big shadows / crepuscular ray features like the ones I found in IC 5063 (https://flic.kr/p/2mjGRVZ) but they're much fainter. I mean, they'd have to be hard to see given that it's such a well-studied galaxy.

@futurebird reminds me of my father-in-law always blaming cats for tearing up the trash bags on the street at night. Always saying, "Damn cat!" in Cantonese... I was up late, though. I watched. A cat was sniffing around earlier, but retreated into the nearby tree as soon as a raccoon showed up and then tore into a bag rummaged. The cat just looked down while the raccoon did all the dirty work. There wasn't anything to eat in there, anyway.
