I'm at a crossroads of sorts, regarding presenting things on the internet. My websites fraught. I'm thinking of on a new site. Easy.I like gopher for many reasons including rational ones but I'm thinking, what about sticking with http: only? How many people (NOT FEDI FOLK, lol) have HTTPS-ONLY feetch in their browser?Does this have any effect on AI criminal scraping?

@tomjennings A few modern browsers used to seize up if you redirected HTTPS to HTTP (infinite loop), but I think this is fixed. If you disable HTTPS entirely, some force rewrite HTTP to HTTPS and throw an error when no server is found.Gopher is excellent. A great choice for any non-Unicode content. There are also a lot of new small web projects like gemini, nex, and spartan that support Unicode and have active development and communities of users.

@tomjennings No idea about scrapping, but I generally build my sites with HTTP as default and HTTPS optional.
