@tomjennings Yeah, saw this this morning and immediately deleted Firefox from my smartphone. Now I use DuckDuckGo again.

@atarifrosch Well I'm gonna look and see which browser does what. Do you know for certain that DDG doesn't share? (I guess I can install and find out... sigh.)

@mirabilos @tomjennings Originally I thought that geotagging photos is a neat idea, but nowadays I'm just scared to ever turn the GPS on — even when I have to use the OpenStreetMap application I find my location manually instead of turning the damn thing on 😩

@tomjennings #LibreWolf and #Mullvad are both excellent #firefox forks which are still actually privacy respecting, along with #IronFox for #android.

@tomjennings That's weird. I just checked on my Android phone and it says I've got the current version of Firefox (136.0) and this is what it displays:

@tomjennings enshittification proceeds apace! One workaround is to not give location permission to firefox, in your app permissions settings. Means you can't use location data in firefox, which I never do anyway.

@tomjennings That is not consistent with the disclaimer in the Google PlayStore which says Firefox does not share data with third parties unless. Google definition of not sharing with third party refers to not voluntary share. The application can share data with third parties in cases it is technically needed like sending an e-mail or if a third party manages data in the name of the developer with the same security standards as the developer or if a government asks for the data or if the data shared is completely anonymous.I'm tired of all this bullshit about Mozilla and the whiners who are happy to follow.
