Cool thing about Enigma Heart is that its engine is so robust now that it should be super simple to roll it straight into Acronia afterward (after a little detour into a collab project that I can't talk about just yet).I'm thinking of going with a 640x360 presentation for Acronia, which means if I want the same field of view as the original DOS version, I'll need to use a 24x24 tile size. Given that, I won't be able to reuse any of the original DOS version's graphics (which were based on a 16x16 tile size). But that's okay; it's a pretty simple game, and a lot of the design is already laid out, so it should be quick to re-draw everything.Gonna be fun.

I think the Acronia gang are gonna look pretty sick with 24x48 sprites. That's just big enough that they might actually get to have faces -- or at least, eyes!

(I know Snake from Bio Menace had a face and he was only 16x32, but I wanted to go for more realistic proportions for the characters in Acronia, instead of cartoon bighead style. I think 24x48 will be just enough wiggle room for the best of both worlds.)

ngl, I miss Acronia -- a lot. It was a really fun game, and the only reason I stopped was because it became clear that I wasn't a good enough programmer to do a full-screen, fast-scrolling action game on a 486 in VGA. But I loved the game itself, which is why it's going to be a modern-system game using the Enigma Heart engine. That said, I would love to revisit DOS someday; maybe some kind of single-screen-at-a-time platformer or puzzle game.Or if I'm really ambitious, maybe I could learn about planar mode and do some of that fancy hardware scrollin' that I hear the kiddos talking about.

@ClarusPlusPlus I've done that like twice in 10 years of being a social media nerd. You get a pass :)
