me: I'm going to relax today (i'm sick)also me: huh so hiberation stopped working on my laptop recently, I should just quickly fix itoh so linux mint doesn't like when you upgrade the *debian way* they have their own graphical thing oklet's revert to the actual installed version so it can do its own dist-update finealso me: *literally 8 hours later* only by the grace of god (an update installer refusing to do anything without a snapshot which I recovered) is this device not brickedno relax

me: this laptop is not the experimental computer, just the whatever stable releasealso me: what if I just go straight to oracular and ignore all the linux mint docsme: oh reverting should be relatively easy then the upgrade thingy should workalso me: spends 8 hours hand guiding apt through dependencies and downgrades before getting impatient and not paying enough attention so apt pulled a real moment and fucked up PAM

this is somehow still a better computing experience than windows(I say this as someone who's used a very large proportion of the windows versions, with the notable exception of pre-3.1 and ME, and uses windows at work)

if linux could figure out how to hibernate like macos on apple silicon there would be pretty much no features of any other *widely used* OS I'd want to add
