@futurebird I was thinking maybe a "drunkening feeling" but that seems wrong, because thoughts aren't really the opposite of feelings.Maybe when are you are excited by seeing a weird bird and you think to yourself "OMG its a weird bird!", maybe that's the opposite of a sobering thought. A distracting, joyous thought.

@bytebro Genius! The opposite of a thought cannot be a different thought... it is the total absence of thought.

@futurebird An intoxicating emotion? Sure, I'm absolutely in love with my wife. An intoxicating thought? The FediVerse and all the people here bring back that fresh feeling of what the internet is supposed to be.So hope and love I guess?

@futurebird I don't know what it's called exactly, but watching Noel Fielding's "Luxury Comedy" is the exact opposite of a sobering thought

@futurebird The nearest emoji I find for that opposite is 🤯, no words make it justice. I had several of these in my life, thinking on things like these:- Lambda calculus as means of computation: integers, booleans, recursion, everything else. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambda_calculus- The Banach-Tarski paradox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banach%E2%80%93Tarski_paradox- Gödel's incompleteness theorems: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6del%27s_incompleteness_theorems- Objects in 4 dimensions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-dimensional_space

@futurebird So yesterday I started telling my husband about the size range of ants (the myrmepropaganda is working), and it blew his mind. Surely "mindblowing" is the opposite of a sobering thought -- it's the kind of thought that makes you a little giddy just to have it, right?

@futurebird In my mind, the opposite of a sobering thought is a wildly amusing idea.I have wildly amusing ideas most days. I had one yesterday when I was roused from an accidental nap by the following, "They sent in a goose to do a man's job!"Wildly amusing ideas are, in my experience, hard to communicate on social media. And unfortunately, they are often overwhelmed by sobering thoughts.

@futurebird I would say an exhilarating thought (which takes the "sober" more to the "temper down"meaning rather than the drug related one)
