Welcome to the Australian government web portal, you have an app that can receive a one time login code, so you can then login to another site with your username and password to receive an SMS code but the SMS system isn't working so you can't actually login

@liamolua They said myID would be easier, and then they just redirect me to the same login page on the first use

@BrodieOnLinux@mstdn.social i made a myGov account through a convenient button that said "create a myGov account through your digital ID"apparently accounts made this way were just bricked for a few months and it would just infinitely redirect me on login

@bee I'm trying to login through the digital id with an existing myGov account, one of the setup steps to link to the systems is to login to myGov but the SMS system is broken so I can't link them

@BrodieOnLinux That happens to me at least once a month. There must be some sort of update cycle that throws the whole system off.It was easier for them (not us) so they didn't have to bother upgrading their legacy Windows Active Directory servers. They have been known to run systems as old as Windows 95, initial reports of these came out in 2022 so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the servers are still out of date and they're using myID as a "SSO firewall". Which is just a horrible mindset and like all (for the lack of a better word) corperations whom refuse to take cybersec seriously will eventually fall victimto a data breach.

@BrodieOnLinux In Denmark we used to have a system called nemID (easyID in English), based on cardboard code pads as a second factor. For the first many years it was horrible enough that someone set up a website specifically for monitoring whether the whole thing had crashed again.

@BrodieOnLinux this is one of those rare moments when I can say that being Ukrainian is superior to probably almost everyone else. Slava BankID! Diia slava!
