I almost never see hvac, maintenance tech, etc jobs listed that don't want 3-5 years of experience :02_shrug: and no, trade school doesn't count as experienceif you don't have a personal connection I don't see how you break into that sort of work. just lie maybe?

@deprecated_ii >if you don't have a personal connection I don't see how you break into that sort of work. just lie maybe?Trade schools near me have people from the HVAC companies go directly there to hire. Isn't the rigged job market sweet?

@deprecated_ii The military seems to be the only employer that truly has entry-level positions for any skilled labor.

@deprecated_ii I think part of the problem is that some of these places are trying to replace people who are retiring so they can't really afford to replace them with people who need excessive training, which is fair, they should be promoting people internally. I never see any postings for the entry-level positions, though.I was trying to get into mining because there's a gold mine near my town and they want you to be able to run bolters and jumbos and mining drills and stuff. I've worked construction and demolition before and run heavy equipment but apparently that doesn't qualify me.I actually managed to get my foot in the door with one of the companies as a janitor and was making $28 an hour doing it but then another nearby mine shut down and since it was unionized I got pushed out so somebody from there could have my job. Haven't been able to get back in since.

@deprecated_ii Apply anyway. Every job fishes for overqualified workers.

@deprecated_ii That's how it worked for me. I took a month of welding classes claimed I had 3 years experience and got hired at $12.50. I was the third best welder there after two months because there were only 3 White guys there.
