Oh dear... so the ThermalTake DUT is constantly powering off/powering on after the mainboard stops at POST code 55.So I look that up, and there's a post about the Z77 Extreme4 doing that and it being RAM-related. So I swap the RAM. It does the same thing.I pull all RAM. It stops powering off and stops at POST code 53 (which probably means "NO RAM"). That's my good old Antec EarthWats 650 PSU cleared of any faults...I wonder if the CPU has the memory controller, and that's the fault...

POST code 55 means "RAM not installed", so there's most likely a RAM channel fault caused by CPU socket pins not connecting properly

So I took the CPU out and looked at the socket, and there were a couple of pins that looked dodgy (these things are ridiculously SMALL; couldn't tell if there was a pin there or if it was no-connect, but there WAS a pin there)Took a Pentel P205 and put that pointy bit used to clear lead jams out into there, and wiggled those two pins to where they looked reasonable, and put everything back togetherAnd holy SHIT it POSTs now! Stupid fragile socket design (LGA1155)
