Gonna do some looking into #live2d today and see if I can lock in with it. Before I start drawing each individual piece, I want to know that the plans I have for my work will function okay, so i need to do some research.Will likely keep this as my research thread. Mostly, it'll be filterable with #reaityspeaks , however some of this will be under #learntodraw if I have some tips I discovered that I want to share during the grueling process. Might do a #learnlive2d tag too if I learn something useful for the program itself. I barely know anything about drawing, and I don't know Live2d, so I will be learning both at the same time. The pro version has a free trial period for 42 days or so, so i won't download it until I have enough stuff already prepared for the process. Due to burn out, I want to make sure i can get this done on the first try. The free version has far less transformers, so basically, until I can pay to use the paid version all the time, I won't be able to add or take away from the model without paying first.I'll likely be using #blender and #vroid to help with the positioning process. I've seen people do it before so they get the transformers right. I know how to get the face doing the right thing, but making everything warp and deform properly is gonna be rough, especially since I'm a perfectionist. But I need to do this. If I don't do this before I lose the opportunity, I'll regret this. I've seen so much proof that this is what I need to be doing, and that I don't need to be doing anything else. I almost gave up and tried to get a day job (which is really hard with my sickness and physical problems), but on the day when I nearly gave up, I found my pen for my drawing tablet. I found it after having lost it for months upon months. Maybe even a year. And after I almost got comfortable on Aethy, I had gotten the message they were closing down, which was more proof that i need to sleep working on my social media thing. That isn't a coincidence.I may need to pick this up after a nap first. I'm feeling really sick suddenly... Otherwise, i'd start right now.

In bed watching #live2d tutorials, and feeling less and less uncomfortable with the idea of making my own model despite not knowing how to draw or do any of this. Loving how possible everything looks. Trying to figure out how I can rig an “outfit change” that swaps my model to a #loli model. I figure it’s possible. Not just possible, but extremely possible. I also learned about clipping masks for different things, so I think I’ll make a lot of parts of my model editable so people can decorate my outfits however they see fit, and set color/texture changes to be changeable with very little money per change so they can change lots of aspects of my outfits as they see fit. I imagine this is possible in #vtubestudio maybe? I know it’s possible with Vseeface because I saw people do eye texture swaps like this where they had everything on the same texture map and just moved everything via coordinates to a different eye texture and then had no fade between them or something. I’m looking for a way to do this if I want to do this that doesn’t overload my PC. I want a lot of bells and whistles, but I know for a beginner that it’s a bit unreasonable. I just can’t help wanting more. #realityspeaks

Thinking more about what I want to do. One thing I appreciate is the ability to make the models very reusable and editable. I feel like people would appreciate being able to buy something they can do lots of their own edits to. I want to make the models be capable of having nsfw things happen to them, but finding a place where you can sell those kinds of assets is harder. Patreon isn’t safe for NSFW, gum road doesn’t allow NSFW, subscribestar.adult doesn’t allow a lot of what I wanna do, ko-fi doesn’t allow NSFW, Etsy charges monthly per listing… I wonder if fanbox can be used for stuff like this? I could always sell sfw versions on other sites since not all sites allow for such things. I think I’ll have the boobs be tacked on so they can easily be added when people want specific sizes for the job. However, I still can’t sell with nipples unless I find a place that works. Whole thing’s pretty dumb. I wonder if you can sell that sort of thing on booth or not. #realityspeaks

I’m awake now. I may be able to work on it now. I wanted to do it all day yesterday, but it never happened. I once saw someone use #vroid as a base, make some edits in #blender , and then trace that to get the base body. I think I will, too. Figuring out how people make ruffles look so good when people aren’t really doing a tutorial sucks because I’m trying to make it look better and more natural.I heard hand tracking is possible, which is nice. I think I’ll do the disappearing line art trick when some of my fingers are close together sometimes. I think it would be cool. Because if it’s possible, I wanna do a lot with my hands.I have an iPad I can weirdly attach to the back of my laptop for supporting better tracking, but I can’t get #vbridger , which frustrates me. It doesn’t cost much. I’ll get more in the future. You can do a lot without it so long as people move while they’re in their model instead of being stiff.I’ll wanna make some interactions with the audience and my model. Some exist already, but I wanna be extra and make my own because it would be nice. Like a head pat toggle that looks more natural and ruffles my hair.#realityspeaks

Alright, I’m getting things figured out. I have a fun theory on how I can be able to change the textures on my outfits as much as I like with clipping masks. I think this is gonna be really cool, as well as accurate to how anime is animated. They usually did that sort of thing. Makes the texture significantly flatter, which is interesting. You learn a lot. #realityspeaks

Probably my favorite part is how customizable it would be with much less effort, and I’d be able to slap lots of cute outfits together quickly without having to worry much. I wish i had a smaller cord to plug in my drawing tablet and also that i knew the exact canvas size I need for this operation. I feel really confident that this is gonna be fantastic. I’m pretty anxious about hands and hair, and also not knowing how to draw is rough, but at least #vroid exists so I can just trace that for hair, I would probably draw one piece at a time, I think, and animate each piece as I go to see if I like it. I have a prototype of the hair drawn (it’s probably the best hair I’ve EVER drawn), but it’s gonna suck so much cause it’s asymmetrical, so rigging it is gonna be death incarnate. But I am beginning to have a better understanding of how it works just watching other people do it.I am absolutely going to be inquiring about how to add in the bits down below because I don’t know how that works. I often don’t see very great examples of them, but some people here really seem to know how to drawn those, so if nobody minds me asking in the near future, I’d love to be able to make my model fuckable.#realityspeaks

Gonna go with 4k x 4k and see if that works. It’s an okay midway point, according to ChatGPT. I couldn’t find a video that explained that, so I had to ask AI 🙄separating out the base model won’t be very fun, but if I can get that ready, I’d be pretty happy with it.If I had my way, I would have a bunch of boob sets and I’d rig them and have them be ready so if I wanted to sell some ready-made bases, people could choose their chest size. I think that would be super cool. Cause i saw some base models that existed and they have skin tone variety, and that’s it. I like more variety than that.I’ve got this idea where I think I may be able to keep the same model and resize all the parts to become loli, but I dunno. Either that or I will have to have my “outfit change” just be the whole body duplicated and everything smaller. Okay, I’m struggling. Krita is basically useless. May need to try #photopea because wow. I need high quality line art, and I literally can’t get it with this. I followed tutorials, and my line art is still bad. It isn’t worth trying to fix. It’d be better to redraw. Really glad I didn’t get further than head line art because that looks bad and took longer than it had any right to. #realityspeaks

Well, I’m back on my #live2d mission. I don’t know what kind of style I want to go with, but i do know it’s at least anime, and I want it to be way more 2d-looking than most models. I want it to actually look anime and less shaded. So I’m going to see if I can get a head shape that looks satisfying, and try to shape a #vroid model in #blender until it looks correct, and then get some hopefully okay-looking line art, and go from there. I had one bit of line art already made for the head, but it isn’t working out, and I know it won’t because I had traced my vroid head, and I’m not actually sure that was the shape I wanted. Vroid models tend to be a bit vroid-y, so I need to find a shape that satisfies me better, and go from there.Probably my biggest problem is not being able to stop yawning, so that’ll make this a bit rough. My vision keeps blurring because I wanna sleep, but it’s only 6:40. I really need to stick it out until closer to 10, maybe.I’m at least not going to let perfection get in the way and going to try and mess with lots of different styles that I like from animes I’ve enjoyed because I don’t know what style I want because i don’t really have one because I don’t know how to draw.The next phase after this will be to modify other body parts to be correct. Basically, I’ll look up how each individual body part is drawn, and the good news is that all of these things can be reflected, so i only really have to do one side of the body. The asymmetrical parts (hair, and some outfits being particularly fancy) are gonna be rough, but it’s okay. Not knowing how to draw won’t stay in my way. It’s really just a matter of getting in there and doing the work. I’m not too worried about it. The only thing really in my way is exhaustion.As I get it all figured out and start experimenting with different shading and highlight styles and get a handle on things, I’ll develop a style that’s more original, but until then, I’m not unsatisfied with this idea. i kinda wanted to do this anyway. I think it’d be fun to have different styles depending on what I’m doing. like if I were reviewing an anime or a game, I could have a model in that style. It all depends on the level of effort I wanna put in at the end of the day.#realityspeaks

@RealitytheBloodWraith Looks good to me, I’d maybe try to use something like Innochi2D if you were to go with a live2D like model. Inochi2D is very similar to Live2D, but it’s open source and that gives you a lot more freedom. Though, it’s still under active development. I’ve been thinking on and off about VTubing (one of my many things I think about in passing, but other projects overtake.) and also have been wondering when I have those thoughts if I’d go for a PNGTuber or a standard VTuber (I’d definitely use In ochi2D though, if I were to go that route. Though that’s personal preference.)PNGTuber seems by far the easiest, especially if you want to do most of it yourself, which I imagine is the case if funds are an issue.The only thing about PNGTubers is Idk how the softwares work for them. I wouldn’t want something that was completely static unless I actively pressed a button, aside from the on/off idle -> talking states.I’d want something I’d be able to more easily control the emotions of, maybe through a microphone system which would determine volume/tone. Even if they could just get the volume right, that would help a lot. Since that would allow for some very tuning of emotions right there if they let you get really into it.

@RealitytheBloodWraith Inochi2D does not work with VTube studio. Do PNGTube avatars work in VTube Studio? I thought you needed a separate program for that, though I haven’t fiddled with VTube Studio much at all.If I was to do VTubing I think I’d just go with my already created representation of myself that I use on Fedi. I can’t really imagine any other character I would feel comfortable playing for a long period. I feel like I’d have to relate/resonate with the character some extent and it’s like, I already have that. So I think i’d likely stick with that.I think disabled blonde shota VTuber would be an interesting niche. I don’t see many shota vtubers around, though I’m also not looking.I am terrible at drawing and have no passion for it, so I would rather have an artist I frequently work with do it for me. Though I know for some that’s not an option, but it’s what I would do.I don’t know where i’d stream though. All of the main platforms are too censorship happy for me to feel comfortable there, so I’d likely stream somewhere like pomf.tv or some place similar with more lenient rules. Maybe even start my own Peertube instance or other software made for/supporting streaming and stream there. I would need to feel comfortable to say whatever I felt like saying without fear of retribution. And from what I’ve seen from what Twitch does to loli VTubers who stream on the platform and keep content exceptionally PG. I just don’t think I’d be able to last long on there.

@Disa pngtubers need different software. I am just still wanting to be a vtuber much more. I think if you do it right with streamlabs obs, you can take donations anywhere and have toggles activated by donations. Twitch integrations make it easier, but it’s possible. They REALLY think they’re the only game in town. But if we normalized using other places that allow for more speech and let vtubers show their hips, we’d just have a better situation. Twitch and YouTube have to stop being the only game in town. They haven’t been creator or user friendly in ages. I wanna allow people to donate with crypto so I don’t lose my revenue suddenly. I heard Projekt Melody got banned from PayPal JUST because she does porn. I don’t even think she used PayPal to take payments related to nsfw. They banned her regarding their “morality clause”. Meanwhile, PayPal owns Honey. They have no room to talk about morals.

@RealitytheBloodWraith Paypal and Credit/Debit card companies. Specifically the big 2 Visa and Mastercard (in that order) are all too big for their britches. They all have a history (especially recently) of censoring completely legal businesses just because of their stupid morals. I still say they should be forced to be non-partisan. In a capitalist society we should not be able to be censored in such a way, since the whole point of the free market is to be able to sell, well…anything. These are legal activities that these individuals want to make money from. Once we start telling people what they can/can’t buy/get paid for. We’re really no better than the other forms of government, controlled by the state. You can not have freedom of speech if you do not have the freedom to use your money how you choose to.I believe cryptocurrency is the future. Yes, there are people who use it to scam, but that stuff happens with regular fiat all the time, we just have learned how to spot those scams. People who use crypto need to do the same. I don’t see why when there’s a get rich quick elon musk AI video that’s advertising a fishy site that, somehow that’s any worse than like…..any other scam? Like people blame the method of payment instead of the scammers or to a lesser extent those who fall for it. A lot of this stuff should be common sense.But anyway, if this stuff keeps up. Which it will without government intervention. Whether that be forcing payment processors to not discriminate or by making the process to start a payment processor/card company easier. Japan from my limited knowledge seems to have many payment options, including “pay in convenience store”. We need something like this.Anyway, if this keeps up, more and more industries will be essentially unbanked, and I’m seeing it more and more.Is cryptocurrency a learning curve? Yes. However I don’t think it’s anymore/less difficult then something like Paypal once it’s set up. Even buying stuff with crypto is so easy now. You can pretty much convert any cryptocurrency to any other (short of a few shit/scam coins)And you can even buy, pretty much anything with cryptocurrency that you can buy with fiat. And more, since moral policing is literally impossible.You can redeem crypto for giftcards for popular sites like Lyft/Amazon/Uber/Grubhub/Doordash You can even get prepaid credit cards with it.And then if those are still not enough there are a handful of services which allow you to give them a link to what you want to buy, you pay with crypto + a small fee, give the relevant info. And then they will buy it for you.The hardest part about crypto is actually acquiring it anonymously, even that’s not too hard. If you use a legitimate exchange like Kraken, link with Identity and buy crypto the normie way, then just convert whatever normie crypto to Monero. The trail stops at the conversion because monero is Private By Default. Then you can just convert the monero to whatever coin you need to pay with (if the site doesn’t accept monero) with something like Trocador and then you can pay anonymously with any crypto.So for example, if you purchased $100 worth of Bitcoin on Kraken, and then sent that Bitcoin straight to a conversion service and converted it to Monero, then sent that Monero to your wallet. It’d be known that you bought bitcoin, but that’s it. The trail would end once it was converted to Monero and if you used that Monero and just spent it or converted it for payments. No one would know what you bought with it, just that you had some Bitcoin at some point.And then another example of why fiat methods are terrible is the inconsistent enforcement. Stripe has a rule against pornography (and a ton of other legal businesses)Meanwhile, you know what payment processor OnlyFans uses? Stripe, it’s Stripe. They just are an exception to the rule because I guess they make enough money that Stripe is just like “yeah, whatever, you can go through.” cause they just want more of that sweet, sweet $$$ (from processing fees).A little disorganized and stream of consciousness (and very long), but hopefully, I got my point across.

@Disa You know way more about crypto than me. Guess I know who to ask later if I need to go in deep with this. These payment systems have been really bad. I argue they could be a threat to our system as a whole. You can’t just decide someone else’s speech or expression is forbidden just because you don’t like it. Not when you’re so big everyone uses your service. Know what’s fine? People carving out spaces that have rules against certain things. Like a discord server or mastodon instance. But if you’re used by everyone and noboy can find a different service to use, you can’t censor that way. PayPal is so inappropriate they censor private activities if they realize their system was used for something nsfw. You suddenly lose access to all your money over it. What if someone sends you money with a fake message saying “thanks for the porn commission” just to demonetize you even if you never drew it? It’s too easy to frame people you hate, and that’s a huge problem.
