"I can't tell if you are making fun of religion or not." -My Mom(I can't tell either. I get that people will find this odd, but I *sincerely* find it very sweet. And maybe that's the point I'm trying to make, it's only sacrilegious if you regard ants, who were made by God like all of us as lesser beings. Every living creature is a miracle and beautiful. Why are hairless apes so special? Ants are more elegant.)

@futurebird Legnds of the three queens, always depicted wingless, vary. Ascetics tell of virgins who tore off their wings and refused their mating flight to follow a different call. Others tell of newly mated queens seeking to learn from the holy mother before bearing their own young, who removed their wings before entering the aphid stable as a sign of humility. (1/2)

@futurebird And other stories have them as mature colony mothers, who left infant daughters to be raised as alates. Who left home, duties, and progeny to travel as they had not in years, growing more youthful all the way. Did they then die, or ever wander? Or return home where their granddaughters did not recognize them, their cuticles changed by the encounter? Was He remembering their visit, when He spoke of turning daughters against their mothers? @futurebird I agree. I create and share a lot of stuff I find delightful and maybe a bit absurd, and sometimes people come back with like "Are you mocking/degrading this particular element?"And... I dunno. As I get older, the world just seems inherently absurd to me, and maybe this is how I cope?
