       @futurebird It must be hard for them to dismantle a beetle.I've seen ants trying to transport a dead bee or wasp take it apart by removing the head or breaking it at the waist, but those are easier. I figured they just thought it was too unwieldy to carry. Didn't consider they'd have to fit the whole thing in the nest otherwise.

       @futurebird And other stories have them as mature colony mothers, who left infant daughters to be raised as alates. Who left home, duties, and progeny to travel as they had not in years, growing more youthful all the way. Did they then die, or ever wander? Or return home where their granddaughters did not recognize them, their cuticles changed by the encounter? Was He remembering their visit, when He spoke of turning daughters against their mothers?
