@AmonMaritza @lpheathen Fat People Hate remains eternally vindicated: in the before times the consensus in FPH was that none of the hamplanets really believed in bullshit like 'Healthy at Every Size' or 'real men like curves' and that if/when a medication to treat obesity hit the market they would waddle to get their meaty paws on it ASAP

@TrevorGoodchild @Tripp @AmonMaritza @lpheathen interestingly, they did studies on this, in the early 60s, I think - and you must have a near starvation diet to cause the body to start shedding weight from caloric restriction alone.

@sickburnbro @TrevorGoodchild @Tripp @AmonMaritza @lpheathen I've lost 20-30 lbs twice in the past by calorie restriction. I was overweight but not quite into obese territory. Both times I found it was just getting used to feeling hungry. Something few of us experience today. It took about a week and I could just go without eating through the day OK and then have an evening meal. It's mostly a mental thing. But I did get that preoccupation with food thing at the beginning. It's an interesting experience.

@petra @TrevorGoodchild @Tripp @AmonMaritza @lpheathen indeed, you can achieve weight loss by things like interval fasting. But specifically what they have shown is that your body will tend to compensate by you being more sedentary when you simply cut calories. The reason I say this is I don't want people to say losing and maintaining weight is EASY - because it can be hard or tricky for some people. When you assume it is easy, it fosters an environment where you can just ignore those that have a hard time.I want an environment where everyone is healthy.

@sickburnbro @petra @Tripp @AmonMaritza @lpheathen Losing weight and maintaining the loss is simple (burn more than you consume). It is not easy for most. If it were, people wouldn't be lining up to chemically modify their GI tracts. The good BMR/TDEE calculators take activity level into account. The problem is that people are very good at overestimating their levels of physical activity and underestimating their daily calorie consumption. It can be difficult, but at the end of the day it is just math.sailrabbit.com/bmr/

@TrevorGoodchild @petra @Tripp @AmonMaritza @lpheathen it's more than just that - when you lower calorie consumption, your body naturally tries to modulate your activity. This makes sense, as when food because scarce, those that were best at preserving their energy reserves would naturally survive better. This is why it's easier to focus on having people simply cut out the high glycemic index foods, which allow you to easily consume more than you need, and make up the difference with active exercise.

@sickburnbro @CrustyBurgerhead @TrevorGoodchild @AmonMaritza @Hertz @Tripp @lpheathen Beer big time. It's remarkably easy to consume it regularly, approaching official alcoholic levels (it's not as much as you think), but still be able to function well enough in life.Cutting it out was the best thing in terms of stupid calories in plus all the other health benefits of not drinking alcohol regularly. Mood, sleep and appetite again. An easy win.

@BionicNigga @AmonMaritza @Tripp @lpheathen @petra @sickburnbro The general rule is that weight loss is 75-80% dietary modification, and it is possible to cut significant amounts of weight with zero exercise, it's just going to be slow going. @BionicNigga @TrevorGoodchild @Vulpes_Quartus @sickburnbro scientifically, actually eating very little or once a day would increase your mass drastically after a few weeks. Of course the opposite side of this is you have successfully destroyed your metabolism

@BionicNigga @TrevorGoodchild @Vulpes_Quartus @sickburnbro the buddy of mine looks like the cover of the 40 and up Men's Health magazine. Dude is an absolute Greek sculpture. He went from weighing 110 to 185. I told him that I didn't believe he did this shit natural. So he explained to me at length how he did it. I am 6 ft 3 and weigh 275. I look like a tall version of a battle dwarf Viking type. Anyway, I asked my doctor about it and he explained it to me that my friend was being honest. What happens is, the more frequent you eat the less your body feels the need to store it. So if you eat 2 hours on the hour every hour you would actually begin to lose weight just not very quickly. If you went and exercised intensely like a form of hit training , while eating every 2 hours on the hour you would cut a lot of weight and get jacked as fuck quick. But if you are already skinny you do the opposite. What he did was eat one meal a day. Nothing Fancy no weird food pyramids or any weird shit like that. Just whatever he was in the mood for . He never ate a breakfast never ate a lunch only ate dinners. His metabolism basically stopped . His body was unsure of when his next meal would arrive so it stored everything that he ate. He said he was basically starving for the first week or so but after that he got used to it. He gained 95 lb in 3 months and was totally healthy the whole time. when he reached his heaviest weight of 235 he began to go back to the intense lifting and eating every 2 hours. He lost the 50 lb in about 2 months . He has stayed there for the past 5 years , still as jacked as ever

@lpheathen @TrevorGoodchild @Vulpes_Quartus @sickburnbro I've noticed I tend to take smaller portions when I'm at other people's places or gatherings where food is prepared in bulk than I do when I'm cooking for myself. Not sure why that is, but maybe if I started doing more freezer cooking I'd have an easier time dieting.

@TrevorGoodchild @BionicNigga @AmonMaritza @Tripp @lpheathen @petra @sickburnbro 1. Work out how many calories you burn quite literally doing fuck all2. Focus mostly on protein and vegetables3. Instead of eating excessively drink at least two cups of water with each mealIt is easy. The only problem is that vegetables etc go off soon, which pisses me off.

@BionicNigga @TrevorGoodchild @Vulpes_Quartus @sickburnbro It’s very possible you don’t want to offend anyone there. I don’t have any frens in real life, so, I don’t understand that struggle. planning meals will definitely help with dieting. Make sure you calculate your daily requirements (macros are important) and after every 20 pounds or so lost, recalculate your TDEE and macros to support continued weight loss to your goal.

@TrevorGoodchild @lpheathen @BionicNigga @Vulpes_Quartus @sickburnbro When I stopped bodybuilding, the lbs just packed on in ways I never imagined possible. Having a family and working full time, I chose to cut my gym time and concentrate on being a Dad and husband instead of a gymbro. I have no regrets that way. In the early 00's, I did the low-no fat diet. Lost lots of weight, but was always hungry - eating 6-9 times a day. It was not sustainable. When I went off that diet, the lbs returned with a vengeance. Then, in the 2010's, I started following Mark Sisson and his Primal Diet - basically, Paleo but with dairy. Lost a lot of weight, plus my metabolism reset and I no longer got heartburn/acid reflux - threw away all the acid reducers I was taking and could eat raw onions again (after developing an allergy to them). The diet was easy to follow. Kettlebells for exercise and recently picked up a used recumbent Lifecycle - my knees are happier. Still not quite 100% carnivore, but I'm moving that direction. When my sister beat her cancer, she went full carnivore to the point that veggies make her sick and actually bring up her cancer markers. I'm almost never hungry now. Not like when I was doing the no-fat diet. I don't eat nearly as much, either.

@TrevorGoodchild @Hertz @sickburnbro @petra @Tripp @AmonMaritza @lpheathen Easiest change for me is cutting out all carbs. Meat and greens and lots of fat. A cup of 40% cream in a pint of milk. When I do that, it doesn't matter how much I burn as it self-regulates perfectly. But it only takes a hamburger bun or a slice of pizza to fuck that up.

@SuhDude @TrevorGoodchild oh, I asked because it dawned on me that it was originally for diabetes treatment, but, didn’t cause a significant amount of weight loss in treated patients. I believe the glp1 in this is a bumped up dose and fatsos will do anything but eat right and exercise. who doesn’t hate themselves after eating some shit food, and then punishes themselves endlessly to get over the calories that they ate? the logical person (read man) knows that you can’t out run or lift a bad diet, but, most people are retarded and don’t realize they stand in their own way. it’s easy, get a lifting program set up. get a cardio program in place. get a food scale, tdee calculator, understand your macros. it doesnt happen over night but it’s better than the tiny heart syndrome that I see from fat tards who can’t see their dick or even get it up because they like hohos and doritos more than feeling sore muscles. as you pointed out, magic beans don’t exist, but, being reasonably fit isn’t hard today.
