@mia @libreleah @EUCommission If there's one thing to be done in tech for the market to be free is not to forbid X type of connector, but it's to not allow proprietary software/hardware.The moment that it is done it allows the market to be able to have it's workload and thus the value generated is not only spread organically instead of being centralized but it also reduce false market demand. Which also has it's own consequences in terms of human health be it physically and mentally.Tl;dr hardware software manufacturers should not be able to forbid people from having access to schematic/making repair and having access to source code/executing-disributing modified software.

@franckraisch @jonasgraphie @EUCommission Cameras, cellphones etc. have a relatively short life-span. Thus implementing them with the same cord isn't a big job, particularly as the cords have been for years two-part (eg. there's the usb-cable, and then there's the actual charger). The wall-sockets are a different beast altogether: the sockets are usually changed only during renovations, meaning the task is one of generations.And STILL we have the europlug with relatively good acceptance.

@iju @franckraisch @EUCommission Honestly I'd consider that to be much better than "relatively good acceptance". I'd call this incredible acceptance.Basically it is only the English speaking countries + some others, mostly in Africa where the europlug is uncommon.

@Archivist You seem to confuse a passport controlpoint at borders, and needing a visa.Seeing how Ireland doesn't have any landborders with EU, and you need to queue in any case to show your tickets at the ferry/aeroport, the benefits don't seem that great.
