@futurebird that's on mastodon's roadmapMAS-1723:"all notifications are sealed with a jpeg of a wax seal, each seal unique to each account. when the notification is clicked, a small animation of the wax seal being opened is played accompanied by the crackle of a hearth fire and chamber music"(/s)

@futurebird @trini My spouse is a nerd, which means he is extremely literal-minded. If I don't write him a lengthy list of EVERYTHING I need from the store, I won't get the things I need to keep us fed. He's very good at all the tasks he's had to assume as I get more disabled - he always has spare headphones, extra cables, batteries, lighting strips. But food is beyond him.

@futurebird I've been starting to build up stocks of some stuff in case things go... you know. One thing I've been wondering about is I remembered how a key way that cheese could supposedly be stored for long periods of time back in the olden days (or so I'm given to understand?) was because they were sealed up with a wax coating.I'm wondering how good this might be to preserve things today.

@benroyce @futurebird My understanding is that the roadmap for this feature includes an image of a QR Code impressed into the wax. The QR Code includes the sender's digital signature and a hash of the message text. The recipient can authenticate the sender and the message by scanning the QR. Successful authentication triggers the animation and allows access to the message.

@futurebird Been there done that in the 1970s. These days it's stamps. (As in decorative rubber stamps and ink.) Hahaha.
