@futurebird I would be ok with members of Congress investing their retirement savings in broad based index funds, because they have to put their money somewhere. But no individual stocks, and no trading individual stocks while in office.

@futurebird I was 40 and my wife was 39 when our only kid was born. We had been trying for a while and there was a miscarriage a couple of years earlier, but it finally worked without resorting to IVF. So we were the mature parents.

@futurebird None of the options apply to me: while I don't have close friends or family using SNAP, my brother is a social worker whose clients rely on SNAP, and he is scrambling to find help for them (I am contributing money to his organization to help).

@aral The USA doesn't have a secretary of war either. Trump and Hegseth want to call it that, but there has been no legislation to officially change the department name or the secretary 's title. Doesn't mean we aren't terrible, of course.

@Nonilex If they get the actual ballots, and know who voted for Biden and who voted for Trump, they will then be able to target the Biden voters for harassment and voter suppression. Courts should treat the DoJ in this case as representatives of the sore loser in the election, not as the neutral federal government.

@Nonilex He clearly doesn't have the power to do this, his lusting after Greenland is not an emergency so he has no legal basis. I hope importers promptly sue and get an injunction.All his is doing is forcing Europe to decouple their economy from the US as quickly as possible, at which point tariffs won't matter because there will be no trade.

@Nonilex I don't get why Trump has multiple illegally appointed attorneys. He has a Senate majority, he should be able to get approval for almost anyone he chooses and there isn't a filibuster for appointments.
