Maybe it’s not that we WON’T slow or stop climate change, but that we CAN’T. We just aren’t smart enough to have figured out a way to organize people globally to work together on a problem of this magnitude.Yes, there are evil people sabotaging the work, and we can blame them. But placing blame is different than solving the problem. Selfish and short-sighted people will always exist, and figuring out how to contain the damage they do is part of the problem that we haven’t been able to solve.

@monkeyborg I think that's right. Every individual will ultimately make decisions that benefit them and the people around them in the short term at the cost of the long term or people far away. I think we're just wired that way, even if we're able to understand the implications and even feel empathy for people we'll never meet.Humans will almost always choose the cheapest & easiest option, and rarely sacrifice now for the benefit or tomorrow. In the end, nature will have to force us to change.
