Pirating is cool. But, if you're in the US or Canada, also remember that you can access a lot of really cool media on Hoopla and Kanopy, which almost all libraries offer a free subscription to with a membership.

A lot of libraries also offer digital book collections.

Though going into the library is really cool! You can check out a lot of really cool books, physical movies, and probably also video games and consoles, board games, and sometimes even power tools, cooking tools, garden seeds, exercise equipment, and probably all sorts of other weird cool shit that you wouldn't of imagined.

Not that I would ever entertain some sealion asking me a bunch of questions of what socialism would actually look like...But if I did, then it would be simply that there would be a library, for everything.

I feel like I've already shared this video on the Fedi like, 5 times lol. But I will, again, because if you want to see how "libraries for everything" would work, this is the most incredible primer in the idea ever.https://youtu.be/NOYa3YzVtyk

@salad_bar_breath IDK, I looked into Hoopla a couple of years ago and found out we were limited to 3 watches per month and it was pretty costly to our library. If I remember correctly, they were being charged $2 per view.I'm thinking free as is beer alternatives such as PlutoTV and Tubi might be a better option.

@Jason_Dodd that's why you get Hoopla through your library, not just the service by itself, so it's free. But yeah, Hoopla is a bit limited in movie selection, but it's great for audiobooks. Kanopy is much better for films. Pluto and Tubi and shit like that has ads, so they're effectively not free. Which is a fine option I guess if being annoyed with ads are more comfortable to you than pirating.

@salad_bar_breath One of my youngest thoughts that could in hindsight be categorized as radical:Why does everyone in this suburb need to buy their own lawnmower and stuff when they’re only used a few times a month? Each block or neighborhood should have a communal lawn care tool shed.

@Vorsos @salad_bar_breath Better yet, get rid of lawns and replace them with native plants or food plants or both.
