Got nothing personal against Mark Hamill; he seems alright. But by nature, big celebs tend to suck the oxygen out of a social network, and shift the mode from conversation to consumption.I don't think it's a coincidence that peak Twitter had no big names (except Stephen Fry, and in the beginning he used it like any other user).Bluesky seems to be speedrunning years of Twitter history in a few days. I'm using both, but I'm putting most of my chips here.

When a tiny number of users get an outsized amount of attention, and therefore have a high degree of influence on the discussion topics of the day, that's not a healthy network. On Fedi, everybody's a nobody... and I mean that as an absolute positive. There are no blue ticks, no divide between 'famous' and 'everyone else’. Numbers may vary, but we're all peers, all the way up to Eugen. All discussion is between equals, and that makes this place unique.
