I was feeling bad about "not getting over it" yet, but then I remembered this isn't like when someone dies. Acceptance is an important part of grieving because if you don't accept that someone is dead you'll get haunted or something. BUT. This isn't the kind of thing that one "accepts" No. Not accepting any of it is important. It's more like becoming comfortable with not accepting much of anything. Finding more ways to not "accept" Even if it's just canceling a bunch of accounts at first.

The things I remind myself we do have to accept are not knowing and impermanence. This is always true, just more so now.@futurebird

@futurebird - The time for acceptance will be when this is past. That is *way* beyond my planning horizon. I'm not young; it may be beyond my lifespan.

@futurebird Acceptance is not "getting over it," but acknowledging, for the moment, the current reality. That current reality doesn't represent the future. It's that acceptance of what is that allows us to realize that we can't just retreat to where we were, but must push forward. That acceptance gets us out of the chaos, and allows us to get new ideas of how to move forward.

@futurebird The acceptance is that it's happened. Like death, it happens. It's undeniable. Denial, anger, bargaining and depression (the first 4 stages of grief) aren't really going to help I don't think in this case. Anger can be turned into solid resolve.

@futurebird Americans are so hyper-focused on being nice people that they've forgotten the meaning of revolt.Revolting.
