Finally it's happening: Wayland on NVIDIA graphics card ✅ AMD is ahead here but good for Linux nevertheless!Wayland? And why?◉Secure display server for modern needs (clients can't snoop on buffers / input of other apps)◉Lighter weight than its predecessor (X11)◉Better multi monitor support◉Handles mixed-DPI scaling & mixed refresh rates◉Low latency; display server & the compositor combined◉Xwayland serves where old X11 is needed👉 https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/wayland-support-for-the-565-release-series/312688#NVIDIA #Linux #Wayland #GPU

@Linux I've heard there are issues with screensharing apps though, such as discord, is that true?

@EcksDy Yes - but the situation is worked on. If understood correctly; Discord does not implement PipeWire-based screensharing currently - so XWaylandVideoBridge is needed for it.

@EcksDy That said, screensharing does work in Chrome, Slack, Zoom.

@Linux Wait: #Wayland didn't work at all on #Nvidia cards till now? Like if I wanted to use a Wayland desktop session and had a Nvidia graphics card, the system would crash or couldn't log in? My god, they're horrible with #Linux and #FOSS thank God I only use #AMD

@Linux Wayland seems to be pretty nice, but I am missing one thing when I am using it. Compiz. Yeap, I am that old school and I still use it as my desktop and like it very much. I will gladly see some fork or variant of it that supports Wayland. Otherwise I have other choice as to stick with X11 for now.
