If the Dems can identify Trump as a fascist but peacefully and willingly accept the results, does that mean they didn't really think Trump was a fascist? Or were they okay with not putting up a fight?

@ChrisWere pretty torn here. On the one hand he's won fair and square (as far as we know so far) and we need to abide by the system. On the other you're right we probably shouldn't be okay with it. How do you decide which is more sacred? Fascist bonking or abiding by the system that promises just government? Feels like I should add a #philosophy or something.

@Tekchip You're spot on. I think this is what they mean by liberals are the ones that open the door for fascists. But yeah, this is a decisive victory. Americans chose Trump - or turned away from the Democrats - either or both, he made gains, both in 2020 and 2024. I think this is what the Americans want. I don't mean that spitefully, I mean that as literally as it's written.

@ChrisWere well lets be real clear. That's what just more than half of Americans want. The other slightly less than half of us see the writing on the wall but I don't think we know what exactly we can do about it. Certainly not within the confines of the system that he will quickly dismantle.I wager it's time for violent action but I don't personally know how you do that. If an individual rolls up to the white house with a weapon, well, we know how that goes.

@Tekchip Hahaha, I think this is an opportunity for a big re-think about what kinda of opposition to 'this new administration' needs to be. I don't think anyone has the answers right now, but maybe now's the time to try some new ideas.

@Tekchip I think there are non-violent routes out of this. But there were problems before Trump, specifically about how Republicans could stifle most legislations that a Democrat president would be in favour off. Which happened a lot under Obama and Biden.Democrats, being liberals, are not really capable of systemic change, so in a two party system it could only come from the right. In hindsight, this was a when not an if.

@Tekchip There are all kinds of ideas I think could be worth a punt. Like what would happen if all Democrats joined the Republican party today? They could take that party over in a few short years. If a thirty percent contingent can keep Trump steadfastly at the top of the ticket, think what else could be possible, good or bad.

@ChrisWere what if no one is a facist and we are all just observing a game being played out by people that are way more powerful than we are and we actually have no say in it? What if there is no such thing as a candidate that isn't a facist piece of shit? Remember, both candidates did some pretty unspeakable things in their respective pasts and promised to do more unspeakable things in the future.All I'm saying is, it is lose/lose.
