       Fuck me mastodon generates a tonne of syslog spam. Also: the full content of toots is showing up in my syslog in massive WARN messages with respect to comms with other fedi instances.My daily syslog is half a gig, it's mostly mastodon.WTF is this junk.I need to migrate to less garbage software.

       GoToSocial appeals to me the most as an alternative off the bat, mainly as it is implemented in Go rather than some utter junk like rails/node lol.I'm afraid the MissKey website automatically turns me off given I'm not otaku pedo... bad vibes.Also TypeScript is just silly.Takahē is compelling given the very first text I see on their site is "An efficient ActivityPub Server, for small installs with multiple domain". It's python/django which I have misgivings about but don't hate.

       @yvan There's also Snac (https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2) and Honk (https://humungus.tedunangst.com/r/honk), both written in C I think.

       #snac is indeed written in C; #honk is written in Go, not C.

       Now... do any of them let you migrate all accounts and history from Mastodon...

       @stevelord@bladerunner.social @yvan@toot.ale.gd @grunfink@comam.esYvan, the simplest fediverse server I've found is Snac behind Caddy on Debian stable with backports active (2 apps to install and a few minutes to configure)I'm still on the previous release (2.59) but this way. however, it should just upgrade via apt once the Debian maintainer packages 2.61

       @jase @stevelord @grunfink that's several recommendations for it!I'll look into how to migrate soon, because this Mastodon mess is doing my head in.

       @yvan @jase @stevelord @grunfink It's also easy to fork to make changes; for instance, I changed the "Like"-like behaviour to "Favourite"-like behaviour (basically, "Like"s are no longer announced to followers) and added a few other bits in my Fork: https://codeberg.org/dheadshot/snac2-dhfork .(Probably best not to use my fork directly as it may have bugs I haven't spotted, but you're certainly welcome to reuse the code in your own fork).
