Surely completely deaf beings would think in sign language, right? What about partially deaf beings? Assuming thinking in sign language is a thing, how much signing does it take to start thinking in it? Does it even happen to non-deaf beings who learn it but don't rely on it to communicate on a daily basis? Also you know how when you know multiple languages you might code-switch between them in your thoughts. Is code-switching between spoken language and sign language... a thing? Surely code-switching between different sign languages would be a thing though (assuming again that thinking in sign language is a thing).

@iro_miya You cannot think in sign language, as they are physical movements, but I reckon one could have thought patterns that align with the physical movements.

@iro_miya I’m surprized not to see this in the responses (I checked on your instance), but not everybody thinks in language at all. Some beings think in pictures, some in ways that they are unable to describe, but all of these are pretty clear that their thoughts have no words as content. I think the majority think in words, but in a group of like 6 you have a pretty good chance of finding 1-2 beings who don’t think in words at all. Asking who thinks in words and who in other ways is one of my wife’s favourite icebreakers (she thinks in images). All that being said I strongly suspect at least some deaf beings will think in sign language, it would fit pretty well with the diversity I know of in this area. I haven’t had that confirmed though, so this doesn’t really answer your question.
