       A climate scientist wanted to test if wood, buried in the right soil, could avoid decomposition, thus sequestering the carbon. They found the right soil, dug the hole to dump the wood in, and found a chunk of an eastern red cedar 6½ feet underground. Carbon dating found it to be 3,775 years old, with 95% of its original carbon content. So...yes,, you *can* bury wood to sequester carbon. https://wapo.st/3zpkWLL
