The Netherlands is gonna cut about 1 billion Euros on education because they want people to have more money at the end of the year..They're robbing youth even more to make the boomers happy for a year, our current government just hates educationThey keep yelling "innovation" in every sector but cut away a billion from the people who are suppose to do thatThe #Netherlands is sinking lower and lower 🇳🇱

I love elderly people, let's start with that ❤️The thing however that I notice a lot is "older" people complaining because they are cut on social benefits or have to pay taxes because they have over 100 000 euros on the bankA little while ago I got mad.. I can imagine it must suck to pay taxes over your 100K or you receive less "free" money but they totally forget the current state of lifeOur generation is barley able to pay the bills anymore, LET ALONE save money or buy a house!Enough..

@stux First of all, I'm almost 70 and I'm not complaining about any taxes I pay. I also acknowledge that it's become a lot tougher to lead a decent life than when I was in my 30s and 40s. That sucks.But...What we need to see is that in this fay and age we're all, older and younger, victims of the same situation, where the obscenely rich take in more and more of the available money and resources and bleed everyone else dry.So don't shoot the piano player, okay?

@Eetschrijver I'm not saying you are ❤️It's a thing I noticed from some people that often do fit that age categoryWe are all victims indeed but we do ask a little more understanding, there is still a difference when you have let's say 100K reserve or have to scrape by each month

@stux Well, I definitely don't have a 100K reserve. But I live somewhere cheap and I'm doing alright (over here, many people of my generation actually live in appalling poverty; others are relatively well off).Still, I realize it's become a lot tougher for the next generations and I hope the situation can be turned around. This is mot sustainable.

@stux I agree there's a bunch of hoarders around. Also, just look at the statistics: the very rich get richer at a shocking pace and just about everybody else gets poorer. That's a long way off from our ideals in the 1960s!What we probably need is a revolution and it may get there yet. Meanwhile, bon courage. You're good people!

@stux Housing prices in the Netherlands rise more per year than young people's total net income.How the fuck is anyone supposed to buy a home like that?Rental pricing not much better, and social housing so massively constrained you can spend 10 years waiting and still no home.No wonder young people are increasingly just not moving out.Like, where to?

@stux you are describing french policy for the last 20 years. Now everything is going to shit: schools are breaking apart and lack thousands of teachers, hospitals leave people dying in the hallway and railway has become a national joke among people. I wish you (collectively) find a way to not dive into this pathway.

@stux I call those rich, privileged, complaining boomers the 'ok boomers'. My mom is also a boomer, but has always been poor, although she worked hard. She is not an ok boomer. :)
