What I wrote about TERF vs. female chauvinism (https://hachyderm.io/@lulu/113087874116997277) seems to align with what Viv Smythe originally wrote about it (https://hoydenabouttown.com/2008/08/17/carnivalia-transgenderism-and-the-gender-binary/) in the earliest online mention of "TERF".Viv Smythe (aka tigtog) did not coin the term. She said she had heard it from trans activists beforehand (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/nov/29/im-credited-with-having-coined-the-acronym-terf-heres-how-it-happened).In that blog post, she added a note in parenthesis as an edit saying that she resents aligning all radfems with TERFs as the Carnival of Radical Feminists did.

In her article about getting credited for the term she didn't coin, she added:I also mentioned another term which didn’t catch on, perhaps at least partly because it was less ambiguous about who exactly was being described:"After a bit more reading, I think the trans-exclusionary set should better be described as TES, with the S standing for separatists. A lot of the positions that are presented seem far too essentialist to be adequately described as feminist, let alone radical feminist."
