ok so this is weird!I decided to write off that VM as lost, and create a new one. Created a new VM with a fresh new virtual hard drive, pointed it at my Windows XP ISO, and.... same message on boot up.So it seems that *any* VM is immediately failing with an unspecified "critical error" Wonder what the hell that's about

@ClarusPlusPlus virtualbox likes to spontaneously develop "can't run VMs"

I have no idea what I'm looking for in the log, and I don't have the time or patience to investigate, so I think I'm just going to try to get Photoshop running in Wine and accept that anything on that VM's hard drive is inaccessible until I can figure out how to recover it

I tended to save anything I worked on in Photoshop onto the host anyway

@ClarusPlusPlus I had to spend two hours updating my Ubuntu earlier this week, just to get back to my windows 3.1 vm

Huh. So, forcing an upgrade to VirtualBox 7.0 fixed itStill weird, though, that VirtualBox 6 would just randomly decide to not work anymore with perfectly-good VM that ran just fine the day before 🤷‍♀️

It does make me wonder, though, if just re-installing 6 also would have done it
