I don't think I fully understood its purpose at first, but more and more, I find myself linking to the Wayback Machine because it's the only place where there's a record of certain music blogs existing, which in turn, is evidence of all the venues we've lost, bands that have splintered into other things, great things, no things or into weird solo projects and I guess generally how much the landscape has changed for musicians.#Music #Musodon #Musicians #SocialMedia #Archives #History #Histodon

@matthartley@fosstodon.org @RobertaFidora@mastodon.social @internetarchive@mastodon.archive.org and very much needed IMO.there is so much ephemeral content on the web, which may vanisg at any point (eg privatly hosted articles, with an auther suddenly unable to pay bills, for whatever reasons. or a hard drive failure without any backup system in place)i love for who they are and what they do.they are kind of modern archeologists AND museums at the same time.

@kura @internetarchive @matthartley Very true. And I think the MySpace decline was the first big one for me to highlight that ephemeral nature. Mainly because it involved the loss of music of someone who is no longer with us. I wish it had been archived.
