Fox host Jesse Waters and Comer are trying to spin up a smear on Walz. Here's what they've got: He we to China for teacher trips. He had his HONEYMOON there on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square! Waters very excitedly says that the Chinese government might have tapes of his honeymoon night!... chat GPT-ass idea of a scandal. Words are in the order of sentences used to describe scandals but that's it. Do any of you know people who this works on?

Even if everything they suspect is *true* it still makes no damn sense. Basically this means they looked for something more salacious on Walz and just found a guy with his wife in a hotel. It's the opposite of damning. Worse? The anniversary of Tiananmen Square? What? Are they suggesting Walz was a fan of the students who protested the Chinese government?Isn't Tiananmen Square FAMOUSLY a suppressed part of history in China???

@futurebird Nothing from these folks makes any sense if you have a shred of critical thinking. But it lets the cult read all kinds of nefariousness into it. Manchurian candidate? Recordings of weird sex acts held over Walz's head as leverage? They probably bathed in baby blood in the honeymoon suite! This is what we're dealing with. It's all goofy and deeply stupid but it gets these folks fired up because they are goofy and deeply stupid people.

@mcsquank But the innuendo worked on Trump because he is a known playboy who gropes women and isn't faithful to his wives. It's like they don't get how smears work. They need a seed of truth. The fear mongering about Bernie's honeymoon worked as a smear because he has said he's a socialist and is very ideologically strident. These bozos are just saying words "honeymoon" "China" etc. and it has no bones.

@futurebird If you reeeally want to decide Walz is compromised by China, I guess this is a stepping stone to get there. Step fast, though, 'cause it's slippery. I don't think anyone finds this persuasive. It's just about throwing enough chaff that uncomfortable Rs can justify inertia instead of considering defection.

There's no depths to the bad ideas RW media will embrace, but in this case, I wonder if this is just an association exercise. Use the words "Walz" and "China" in a sentence as many times as possible so people associate them together. Because the VP speaking the language of, and knowing a lot about, the US's biggest trading partner is bad somehow.

@futurebird @mcsquank I think in these times of conspiracy theories nothing needs a seed of truth for Trump's fans to come up with something nefarious. And FOX is probably also hoping to "own the libs" by getting people to yell at them for lying.

@futurebird Yes. Yes I do in fact know such people. The same people who are legitimately *terrified* of Kamala Harris threatening price control on food, because prices should be determined by "supply and demand" (despite having previously agreed with me that grocery "inflation" is just manufacturers charging more because they can). The same people who want to "agree to disagree" on the difference between self-defense and genocide.

@linebyline The only price controls would apply during natural disasters to essential items. Eg a hurricane and someone has jacked up the price of bottled water. That's the only *serious* proposal, but I think Harris is trying to scare the prices of everything down by being vague and ominous... which can work. Thing is, this can't be done for much more by a president, it's more the agenda, which will scare the private sector.

@linebyline There are so many steps and BS between where we are and what your guy is worried about that I would be shocked if we got there. But, also it's good to move in that direction as long as the gouging continues. And while we are at it revive the teeth on antitrust. Which is the real root of the issue.
