"Rich kids would eat free too" is actually a good thing for the following reasons: 1. Reduces stigma for those who need the program.2. Reduces cost and limits bureaucratic waste when the entry bar for the program is streamlined3. There are very few actual rich kids; there are kids with rich parents. And not all of those are as loving and attentive as they should be.4. Rich kids are still kids. All kids should eat.

@Lana When the well-off also use government services those services tend to be higher quality because wealthy people have more power and time to ensure that problems are fixed quickly and standards don't slip.When the rich have their own services the quality of services rapidly diverges.

@futurebird @Lana I've often thought that private school should be illiegal. If rich ppl want their kids to have a good education, then they need to make the educational system better for everyone.
