If your criterion for what makes a person smart or intelligent is how much money they have, you live in exactly the world you deserve. For everyone else, it’s up to us to relegate this shortsighted and self-destructive myth to the annals of history and build a kinder world with humane success criteria.

@aral Money puts food on the table. A lot of now celebrated bright and smart minds died poor and were buried anomynously. A lot of rich people are just terrible humanbeings with only inherited money.

@aral I come from a working class background, I have a gorgeous wife of 30 years, between us we have 5 fantastic children, 7 grandchildren and a crazy terrier who makes me laugh every day. Money can't buy what we have, the joy of a loving family.

@aral There's a known pattern of valedictorians and salutatorians "not being successful" in the terms of not ending up as executives, lawyers, being wealthy, etc.I'm thinking we're successful at being satisfied in life and loving those around us and the executives and lawyers have failed. Never having enough seems like a huge flaw and a foundational fallacy.Frank Capra's insight and wisdom about what makes good, admirable humans should be core lessons to us all.

@aral we produce enough rlnow that every human can maintain a decent standard of living. scarcity is artificially created to keep the super rich in power (and make them super super rich)
