@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt I was just at a conference and it came up that calling assignments "homework" is exclusive to unhoused students.

@183231bcb @ShadowJonathan Next time you should bring that up again & suggest that the homeless students be given free homes to solve the issue.

@jackemled@furry.engineer @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt Yes, it would be better if all our students got homes, but that's not something a teacher has the power to change on their own. There's a program that brings university math professors into prisons to help educate prisoners in the hope that if they ever get out they will be better prepared to get a college education. In the best cases the prisoners go to math class instead of some shitty thing the prison would make them do.The person who pointed out the problem with the term "homework" works in that program, and she pointed out that her incarcerated students *can't* go home even if they have a home. Everyone who works in that program is an abolitionist, and would prefer all the prisoners get out of prison and get homes. But "help a disadvantaged person learn math" is a small victory a math educator can make today, whereas "abolish prisons and end homelessness" is not.

@183231bcb @ShadowJonathan I'm not saying it should be teachers' responsibility to give students homes. It should be the government's responsibility. Having a home shouldn't be as difficult as it is.

@jackemled@furry.engineer @183231bcb@transfem.social @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt no no but think about all those poor banks that are unhoused https://www.businessinsider.com/jp-morgan-to-acquire-1-billion-of-single-family-rentals-2022-11 they should be able to buy all the houses in the world, jacking up the prices and then making a profit off of selling a scarce resource to people in dire need. ;(

@jackemled@furry.engineer @183231bcb@transfem.social @ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt sorry you can't buy land to make a house, because the banks bought all the land and made houses so you have to pay them for the land and house also they control equity and you're going to have to get a loan from them as well based off of their valuation of the house they just built

@puppygirlhornypost @ShadowJonathan @183231bcb What if all of us were to withdraw all of our money from all of our bank accounts all at once? That would be very funny I think.
