"... many AI tools today absolutely are not “ready for prime time,” in the sense that you could trust them with your job or your life. AI needs close supervision, sometimes requiring more effort than it would take to simply have done the task yourself."#CaseyNewton, 2024https://www.platformer.news/ai-bubble-tech-stock-decline/#MOLE #AI #AIBubble #MoreTroubleThanItsWorth

(2/?)For context..."Today, 828 million people on the planet are hungry ... The U.N. World Food Programme feeds over 100 million people facing severe hunger in more than 120 countries and territories every year. In 2021, we did this with a budget of $9.6 billion dollars..."#UNWFP, 2022https://www.wfpusa.org/articles/how-much-would-it-cost-to-end-world-hunger/So for the $200 billion a year spent on making the better MOLE(1), we could end world hunger more than twice over.(1) Machine Operated Learning Emulator

@strypey Reading that article in no way convinces me that we are not in a bubble. I find his four arguments that we are not in a bubble to be meaningless. Either bubbles are part of the processes he argues indicate we are not in a bubble or, in the case of "Tech companies are still wringing plenty of innovation out of current generation models." immaterial to the question.
