Updating the headlights on my WRX was more involved than it should have been.https://battlepenguin.com/technology/updating-the-lighting-on-my-2006-subaru-wrx/

@djsumdog I almost bought a WRX, but the used ones were super expensive... so I bought a Mazdaspeed 3

They use to be really reasonable. That one was ~$14k in 2017 with 80k miles (including taxes and registration). The new ones didn't look too expensive when I was browsing a year or two back, but I'm sure they've gone up.

@djsumdog At the dealership they were wanting 20k for a 2009 and 29k for a 2012 both over 120k miles. Way too much. But my Mazda was 19k for 2012 with 16k miles on it. Way better deal. This was in 2016 when I got it.

@djsumdog @vhns best year, has baby brembos, is 2.5L, rear limited slip rear and center diffs. Later WRXs had worse brakes and open rear. Also Hawkeyes Wagon is the best looking Subaru.I had one for 130k and tracked it. Cobb Stage2 with redone suspension, it was easily keeping up with STIs. Enjoy this classic turbo car - it really wakes up with 3SS and de-cat downpipe, BCS, intake, fuel pump and stage2 custom tune. You won't have to touch internals and be making torquey 290hp with little lag!

Way back in the day, I had this 2005 WRX. There are a lot of things about that car that were better ... better fog lights, better steering wheel, boost gauge, the cool dashboard cup holder (that everyone hated but I liked). It had the smaller 2.0 engine though. The 06 has the better engine though.I sold my 05 on Craigslist to a fireman in Dayton Ohio before I left the country for a bit. That one I kept mostly stock, as with this one until right now. I don't autocross anymore, so I really haven't looked into performance upgrades. But maybe I should get back into racing. 🤔

That seems really high, especially for 2016 ... but I guess they must be in a region where people will pay that much.

@djsumdog @saahbs you got only one (1) life, might as well dual-track drift while you're at it

@djsumdog Portland, wasn't a name brand dealership, but they mostly sold Subies. Prices for those are just always high and have been for a while.

@djsumdog @vhns mine was a sleeper track car wagon :)I miss it a little, but Miata ND2 Club has much more traction will walk away from tuned WRX in corners - ND2 won't keep up in straights but those aren't fun anyways... :)

@djsumdog @vhns You can (barely) fit a similar vintage STI steering rack and it really wakes the car up - no more hand over hand in tight turns!! One of the best upgrades for that car (the steering is TOOOO SLOOOOW).
